Mr. Canon is a shareholder at GBH CPAs in Houston, Texas. He brings a strong background in valuation and transactional consulting with over 30 years of business knowledge in the middle-market space. Valuation engagements have been conducted for ESOPs, complex capital structures, purchase price allocation and impairment, as well as mergers and acquisitions for companies with revenues ranging from $20mm to $1.0b. GBH has been advising ESOP owned companies for over 30 years.
Prior to joining GBH, Mr. Canon worked for RSM US LLP., the 5th largest CPA/consulting firm in the nation, where he led a valuation team covering Texas and surrounding states. In addition to providing technical expertise in ESOP valuations, Mr. Canon was a member of the firm’s Energy Market Team concentrating in the mid-stream, downstream and oilfield service sectors of the industry. Other industries included manufacturing, construction, engineering, wholesale, and retail.
Before joining RSM, Mr. Canon spent 9 years in investment banking concentrating on middle and lower middle-market business sectors.

Herb Kalman started his career in accounting in 1969, primarily working in the public company sector. Herb's decades of experience includes serving as an audit partner for two of the top accounting firms – Deloitte and Grant Thornton. Herb founded the accounting firm Kaufman/Kalman P.C., which was acquired by Grant Thornton in 1989. Herb’s management career includes serving as CFO of American BioMed, Inc., a healthcare company, and CFO of Cold Tap, Inc., a manufacturer of specialty refrigeration equipment. He later operated his own CPA firm from 2001 to 2007, before co-founding Prather Kalman, P.C, which later merged with GBH.
